Sonam Gottlieb, owner and founder of Tibetan Arts, is shown visiting a Buddhist monastery, at a shop purchasing rugs, and visiting a carpet weaver in Bhutan. Sonam makes regular trips to the Himalayas to find the wonderful items that she carries in her store. Sonam is Tibetan and, over the years, she had shops in Darjeeling, Delhi, and Kathmandu before moving to the United States in 1989. A devout Buddhist practitioner throughout her life, Sonam has a deep understanding of the arts, cultures, and spiritual traditions of the Himalayas that is reflected in the extraordinary items she carries in her store.
